Lions Club Of Paris, Ontario
The Lions Club of Paris, Ontario is the local chapter of Lions Club International, the community service organization with a global reach and an association with worldwide membership of 1.35 million people in well over 200 countries. There are 46000 Lions Clubs around the world prepared to help wherever and whenever assistance is required. The volunteer members of the local lions clubs are prepared to offer aid within their own communities or any place in the world that needs them. They do this with honour and an unparalleled enthusiasm. Their mission is to endorse volunteerism at the local level while providing compassionate assistance when it is needed. They promote peace and understanding by their actions.
The Lions Club was established in 1917 and since that time, has been involved in numerous charitable endeavors and community projects. Most notably the Lions Club is recognized for their tireless efforts in the battle against blindness – this has been a primary mission for the organization from its inception and carries forward today. Member volunteers work to protect the environment, they see that the hungry are nourished, care for the disabled and offer assistance to the elderly through senior care programs and so much more.
Lions Clubs Provide Community Assistance
The Lions Club has a simple motto – “We Serve” – and this describes their work brilliantly. The networks of global volunteers aid their local regions through volunteer efforts that support charitable work and community projects. Lions Clubs help by providing vision tests and screening, they support hospitals and clinics by giving them up to date equipment and medicine allowing them to serve those stricken by eye diseases while promoting general wellness. They believe that everyone must have good vision and promote this with their global SightFirst program to rid the population of blindness.
They sponsor community-based projects designed to assist adolescents and children in need. Lions Club offers scholarships, promotes recreational activity and teen guidance and counselling. Lions Club understands that youth are the future and they founded the Leo Program that offers youth improvement opportunities through volunteerism. It is common practice for the Lions Club to build local community centers for young people; they provide youth camps to those who would otherwise not participate in camping adventures.
